Jolie's New Puppies Photo Album!
Born 10/21/03

Come visit our online photo album to see Jolie (Mom), Skitz (Dad), siblings Daphne and Jinkies, and the latest pics the new pups! Our Shih Tzu Jolie had 7 pups her 2nd litter! There are 2 brindles, which are white, brown and black, one boy and one girl, and the 4 gold and whites, which are white with gold ears, are 2 large males, 1 small male, and one small female, and last but oh-so-cute is a female gold, she's kind of a caramel color and a smaller size. I'm going to try to get new pics of their faces as often as I can 'cuz they are getting SO CUTE!

They will be available 12/10/03 through Christmas, which at 8-9 weeks old will be the perfect age for a wonderful Christmas surprise! It would be no problem to pick them up either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day! We are advertising them for $200, however if you might be interested in 2 pups we can work out a lesser price of $300, because I love the idea of them going to new homes as companions! (This is very reasonable for this breed and markings, there are ads in the paper this week for $400-$650 with papers, ours will be sold without as the male is not registered) Also, I will gladly accept deposits and payment installments if that is easier for you, I am very flexible and willing to work with you!

Just FYI - The breed standard for Shih Tzus is 8" - 11" tall, and from 9 to 16 pounds, a small breed but tough little dog!
The pups are already started on Puppy Chow and potty training. Also our puppies are raised as part of our family (in fact, my kids usually tear up when each one leaves!), and are pre-loved and pre-spoiled for their new families!

Please let me know if you have any other questions, email me back or call any time!

I got this idea because of our "porch kitty", Jinx, a beautiful, gray tiger long-hair Manx,
who showed up on our doorstep in mid-September 1998.
While trying to find out who he belonged to, we also asked around to see if anyone wanted to adopt him.
Finally, after about 9 weeks, I was talking to an old friend of ours, and he said he'd love to keep him,
and Jinx found a good, loving home with 13 year old Sarah and her Dad.

I recommend yearly “wellness” visits with your Veterinarian.

I would like to make you aware that the AVMA and all 27 Veterinary Schools in North America
are in the process of changing their protocols for vaccinating dogs and cats.

My vaccination recommendations are:
Avoid ALL polyvalent (5 in 1 type) vaccines. At 26 weeks - Single or simple MLV (MLV=modified-live virus) Distemper/Parvovirus only, it is now scientifically proven this will provide lifetime immunity without a booster, and at 1 year Killed 3 Year Rabies Vaccine, then most state laws require rabies boosters every 3 years for dog tags. It must be noted in many areas the only options given to an animal who has been exposed to a potentially rabid animal (and this can mean any animal not captured and identified) or who bites and is reported and who is not currently vaccinated for rabies according to local laws is facing either a six month quarantine or possibly euthanasia, so I would advise the minimum required in your area.

If you and your Vet choose to vaccinate with a more vigorous schedule, ask your Vet to administer single or simple vaccines and space 2 doses at least 4 weeks apart, at 20 and 24 weeks, (e.g. Intervet Progard Puppy) and at 11 months for MLV Distemper & Parvo booster, and 1 year for the 3 year Rabies, or 1st year rabies and then the 3 year booster at 2 years old. This spacing will allow you to observe the animal for any reactions and deal with these symptoms right away. Never vaccinate a dog with a compromised immune system.

Any dog that is sick, under stress, very old (12+), recovering from illness, surgery or injury, or not 100% healthy should never be vaccinated. If you bring your dog to the vet with a bladder problem, don’t get a vaccination shot ‘just because you’re there’. Talk to your Vet about the risks, and carefully watch for any reactions or behavioral changes within 1 week of any vaccinations. DO NOT vaccinate bitches during estrus (heat), pregnancy or lactation.

I feel these guidelines are the safest to follow for those who are concerned about possible vaccination reactions, as well as what is necessary for your pets protection, and economical for the pet owner. For more info please feel free to contact me. You are the final authority regarding your pet's health care. I strongly recommend that you research the vaccination issue and not blindly accept the advice of your local vet, no matter how nice of a person he or she is.
